At the HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences, research activities are grouped together into a number of different research areas. These research groups serve as the driving force behind research and development at the HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences. They act as role models, provide encouragement and motivation, and are experts in the promotion of further activities. Innovative solutions are achieved by interlinking application-oriented research and development with both future research areas and current economic challenges.
Research laboratories and interdepartmental research priority groups as well as specialist centres and affiliated institutes help support the various research areas.
In the areas of applied research and development, close cooperation exists between industry and the specialist centres at the HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences. These forward-looking centres advise on new technologies and offer staff training to businesses within their specific area of expertise.
Set up as associations or societies, the affiliated institutes are legal entities, independent in law, and therefore provide opportunities for research contracts that the university itself is unable to.
Of special importance are the research opportunities available to students in all areas in the form of research internships and students’ final theses.
